I've noticed some errors in this part of the film, even when I was ten years old watching it for the film for the first time I saw those errors. 1: Danny's Plane, his P-40 the had USN and USMC stripes of the fin of the plane and didn't have those numbers neither. 2: All P-40 Warhawk plane's and other US aircraft would have the USN and USMC stripes on their tail fin as marker's ( USAAC red stripes) - officially removed in the months after the Battle of Midway, by May 6th 1942 all of the USAAF aircraft stripes had been removed. (In reality the P-40's didn't have numbers on them, but they did have the red and white stripes.)

This version and the docking to the space station scenes left me gobsmacked! 13 years old, we were going to the Moon, watched this with my Dad and Brother. A life-changing experience. Kubrick's choreography was perfect.

When i saw this on its anniversary a couple of years agi at an AMC special event. The theater was packed to the hilt. Mostly younger adults and teens who never saw this in its cimematic glory. 70 MM dolby surround sound Everyone was just totally spellbound.

I saw this the first time around 6v years old. Even at that age it made such an impression that I went into engineering, i never made it into space or 'rocket' engineering, the timing was all wrong, but it still haunts me to this day.
